HERliograph is a word we created by Ms.-appropriating from he·lio·graph, a signaling device that reflects beams of light to send a message. We found it a fitting name to capture the work of lighting up heroines whose stories amplify the light in us all.
Welcome to HERliograph where everyday heroines are celebrated. We believe in tuning into our inner knowing. Being afraid is the first step toward a heroic path. We believe in women everywhere shining their light, reflecting and sustaining our humanity.
Growing up Taiwanese in South America, Cheng-Ling Chen always felt drawn to the outsider's perspective. She is passionate about women's issues and stories. After some years of working hard as a corporate lawyer and many more years of working even harder as a stay-at-home mother, CL grew curious about the women she saw all around doing amazing things mostly unseen or under-appreciated by the world at large. She approached these everyday heroines and asked some questions — What lights you up? If you could give back in any way, what would that look like? Describe one time you knew or experienced you were enough. The stories these women shared, and the experience of connecting with each of them have lit up CL's life. She created this site to spotlight these heroines with the hope that women everywhere can connect deeply with one another and in so doing light up their own paths.
